Commercial Imperative
In a highly competitive market, the business communications division of Emap had been a strong performer but needed to restructure by reducing duplication and improving processes to maintain and improve margins. A property consolidation was used as the catalyst for a wider business transformation process.
CPA Role
Working as the seconded Head of Property alongside internal finance and facilities, CPA devised a property plan designed to consolidate 7 London properties into the business’ principle building in Camden. CPA then executed the plan as the property representative on the Executive Change Team chaired by the
Divisional CEO.
The Result
Emap exited 6 central London properties and consolidated into 100,000 sqft at Greater London House, Camden. Surplus leases were surrendered within 2 months of exit at well below provisions. The project was delivered on time and to budget. New ways of working enabled the amount of leased space to reduce by 25%.
